Dietrich Ulmer, Ph.D.
Dietrich brings in many years of management experience at international high-tech companies and an extensive background in establishing companies and managing complex projects. As CEO and President of Siemens Acceleration in Communications he contributed significantly to the company’s success as worldwide leading investor in its segment.
 
Prior to Siemens, Dietrich was chief strategist at VIAG Interkom (now O2 Germany), where he served as director of Strategic Projects - Corporate Strategy. He was responsible for numerous triple-digit million USD fixed network, Internet, and mobile radio (M&A) projects. In addition, he had project responsibility for acquiring the 10 bn USD UMTS license. During his time with VIAG Interkom the company grew from 500 employees to 5,000. Previous to that, Dietrich managed the 'Business Development' and 'Balance Sheets and Controlling' sectors at debis Telecommunications and Media of debis AG. From 1985 to 1996 he worked for Mercedes Benz AG in Berlin and Stuttgart, where he led Strategic Projects in the Automobile Sector department and was responsible for major international projects.
 
Dietrich Ulmer gained his doctorate in sociology at Konstanz University. He holds degrees in mechanical engineering and economics from the Technical University (RWTH) in Aachen, Germany.
